The Gift of Giving Store

All net proceeds received from purchasing The ABC’s of DBT go directly to support The Gift of Giving Store. The Gift of Giving Store is a charity that Alexandra and her Mother founded. Each spring, The Gift of Giving Store sets up child-friendly pop-up stores inside domestic violence shelters where the children living there can "buy" Mother’s Day gifts for their Mothers using statements of self-love instead of money. It is a heartwarming experience that allows children to feel proud and empowered while giving their Mothers the priceless gift of knowing how deeply they are loved. The only currency accepted at The Gift of Giving Store is Love.

THE AUTHOR

Meet Alexandra Newman

Seventeen-year-old Alexandra Newman wrote The ABC’s of DBT to help kids turn "big feelings" into something colorful, fun, and easy to understand. Alex’s love of children expands to the The Gift of Giving Store, which is a charity she founded with her Mother to help support children and their Mothers in domestic abuse situations. Alex also co-created That’s the Way the Muffin Crumbles, a dessert business full of playful muffin crumble creations, where every bite helps support the Gift of Giving Store. Proceeds from The ABC’s of DBT will also go straight to spreading this joy. When Alexandra is not at school, she can usually be found acting on stage, attending Broadway shows, or hanging out with her pets, friends and family.
